Halfmoon Reef Lighthouse |
Established 1858 on Matagorda Bay, kept inactive during the Civil War for the benefit blockade runners, and reactivated in 1868. Severely damaged in 1942 hurricane, but kept light on, condemned following a 1943 storm and moved to Point Comfort. Moved again in 1979 to present site next to the chamber of commerce.
